Description:
Model 1850 Civil War Foot Officer's Sword, manufactured by Ames Manufacturing Company in Chicopee, Massachusetts. This example boasts the "US" etched on the blade in block letters, indicating early manufacture.
Investment grade representation.
Condition - Excellent, retaining 95% original luster on the blade, and much original gold gilt on the hilt and scabbard mountings. Grip and guard are solid to the blade with no looseness or movement, grip is 100%, no flaking or cracking. There are scattered oxidation marks on the blade.
The scabbard is in excellent condition, all intact leather and surface finish, strong, firm and pliable, with only minor age cracking. This sword is investment grade representation.
