Description:
A fine Sheffield bowie knife imported and marked "Alexander" with a shield and New York engraved on the blade. The bowie remains in excellent condition with a very sharp edge. The blade measures 5 3/8 inches and overall 9 3/8 inches. The horn scales remain in excellent original condition with a silver shield on one side. The german silver guard is excellent also and adds great appeal to this civil war period bowie knife. These were most likely imported for New York volunteer troops. The scabbard is a well made leather replacement of the late 1890's period. This small bowie knife is solid in every respect with no damage or repairs of any kind. USPS priority mail is 16.50
