This MK Arms MK760 is an affordable and transferable clone of the famous S&W M76. The M76 was originally designed by S&W and intended for special forces operations when the Swedish government blocked firearms sales to the United States in 1966. It replaced the Swedish-made M/45 submachine gun. By the time it was ready for production the military requirement for the M76 had diminished. It was then produced in limited numbers from 1967 until 1974 for the police and civilian markets.
MK Arms acquired the rights to the S&W M76 in 1983 and made copies of it designated as the MK Arms MK760. They also produced and supplied replacement parts for the S&W M76 to the military. MK Arms went out of business in 1986 due to the Firearm Owners Protection Act and ban of new automatic weapon manufacture for the civilian marketplace.
