Description:
This is a very cool, unique, and seldom-seen little revolver!  This is a vintage Rossi Model 25 "Princess" .22 caliber DA/SA revolver with a factory nickel-plated finish and a 2" inch barrel.  Imported from 1965 until 1969, only a small number of these tiny revolvers made it into the States before the 1968 Gun Control Act made them illegal to import.  The Rossi Model 25 Princess was essentially a modernized version of the S&W Ladysmith revolver which was manufactured from 1902 until 1921.  The Rossi Princess revolver was offered in a 2" or 3" inch barrel length with a Nickel-plated finish only, and featured a swing-out 7-shot cylinder with a hand-operated ejector, checkered marbled brown plastic grips, fixed iron sights, and a blued hammer and trigger.  For weight reduction most of the metal parts of the Princess are cast out of lightweight Zamak (a composite metal), with the rifled barrel liner, cylinder, and "wear" parts made of steel.  Unlike the original S&W Ladysmith, the Princess uses a coil-spring powered lockwork instead of a flat mainspring.  Rossi also incorporated an Iver Johnson-style transfer bar with a frame-mounted and spring-loaded firing pin for added safety over the old Ladysmith's hammer-mounted firing pin.  Outside of these changes the two guns were very similar, with the Princess using the same knurled-knob cylinder release located just under the muzzle of the barrel.  The overall size of the Princess was 6 inches long and 3.75" inches tall, and at the widest point (the cylinder) the Princess was 1" inch wide.  The Rossi weighed a grand total of 11 ounces unloaded.  Today these little dimunitive revolvers are sought-after by collectors, with high-condition examples few and far between.  This particular example is serial number 572929.  As mentioned in the title, it is in superb condition inside and out and is 100% original.  The factory nickel plated finish rates 98%+, with no bad spots or visible wear.  The bore in the 2" inch barrel is perfect and bright, and the seven chambers of the cylinder are also pristine.  The factory blue finish on the hammer and trigger is in excellent condition, also free from any fading, wear, pitting, or marring of any kind.  The factory grips are like-new, free from any cracks, chips, visible wear, or repairs.  The action on this Rossi is in perfect time and is very smooth no matter how the revolver is operated.  All of the controls are in perfect working order.  If this Rossi Priness has been fired more than a handful of times since it was new in the 1960's we would be very surprised.  This is truly a unique and cool little revolver, and it's rarity, originality, and superb condition make it an excellent long-term investment.
