Description:
Offering a huge confederate d-guard 24" blade with clipped point showing crude manufacture, there is a large "G" on the right side.the patina on the enitire knife is wonderful-this knife was found in central Ga. 40 yrs ago, have the orig finders info and the collector that had it for 35 yrs only to sell his collection back to the finder of the bowie his lifelong collection 40 yrs later--the d-guard is brass showing what appears to be the Ga. Dome configuration, the guard also exhibits in old silver paint initials in script of the original civil war confederate. The handle has a crack in the wood from age but remains solid. the scabbard top is solid copper with the belt fasteners missing --no doubt due to the weight of the whole knife-the wood is willow oak with old black paint present this wood is found in southern states. the scabbard tip is a salvage during the war years source unknown but in exc condition. The wood paint is all original not touched up over time--the right side of the scabbard is marked in script and is very legible as follows: S. AMOS, CO. A 18TH Ga, this is under the very old paint i used some chalk powder to make it more readable--this is a wonderful huge confederate d-guard and sure to please.
