Description:
Holland & Holland, the famous British sporting gun manufacturers, converted about 23,000 No. 4 Mk. I (T) and No. 4 Mk. I* (T) sniper rifles. The Holland & Holland conversions usually have the contractor code "S51" on the underside of the buttstock. This rifle appears to have a wartime replacement stock, as it does not bear the "S51" mark nor a cheekpiece.

Canada converted about 1,588 rifles at Small Arms Limited until the end of 1945 and at Canadian Arsenals Limited in 1946. Both were located at Long Branch, Ontario. Most of the Canadian made No.4 Mk.I* (T) sniper equipment went into British service. The No.4 (T) rifles were extensively employed in various conflicts until the late 1960's.

This rifle has the correct "T" marking on the receiver, a Canadian scope and mount. The bolt and receiver have matching numbers. The serial number "F30786" is etched on the right side of the stock band. The bolt is stamped with the serial number as the band. The band is stamped "M47C". The original scope mount has a serial number of "68L3249". The scope is an original Canadian No. 32 Mk. IA, as approved in 1944, and is numbered "3838-C".

The bore is strong with a perfect action and is chambered in the .303 British cartridge. The stock socket is stamped "England", which means it was approved for export. The metal parts all have the British proof marks. The finish on the metal is excellent, as is the condition of the stock.  The included original transit case has instructions for operation inside the lid. It is not numbered to the gun.
