This German signal or flare pistol was manufactured by Gustav Genschow & Co in 1961 for the German army. The overall condition is excellent. It is all steel except for the plastic grips and weighs 21.2 ounces. It has a 6 inch barrel and uses 26.5 mm flares. (With an adaptor it will fire the more common but less powerful 12 gage flares.) The pistol is in excellent condition. It does have some minor handling blemishes on it’s corrosion resistant parkerized finish mostly on the barrel. (Most LP-2's are blued). The original German Army flap holster or carrying pouch comes with it and contains a cleaning brush, screwdriver and pockets for six flares. (The 26.5 mm flares that I’ve see available in the U.S. are of Czech manufacture.) Using the adaptor the common 12 gage flares can be used. This is a top quality signal pistol for those in need of same or the collector who wants an appreciating item that is both collectable and useable. No FFL required.
