Description:
Very Scarce W.& C. Scott & Son " The Premier" Best Quality Damascus Bar action Ejector model made in 1889. This is a rather unique gun for several reasons; a bar action sidelock ejector pigeon gun with Finest quality Damascus barrels still in proof with perfect bores, Scott crystal cocking windows,Scott's patented push-button forend release, no through-lump in bottom of frame; in short, a Best Quality gun made with all the options. This gun has the double underbolt and Triplex Lever Grip third fastener, with the 10 Great Castle St. Regent Circus barrel address. The price of this gun in 1889 was $475, which was equivalent to any of the London guns. The engraving is superlative, as are all of the Premier guns, with full coverage small scroll and 12 separate animals that look as though Audubon engraved them. Frame still has fading Original case color all over and barrels were rebrowned beautifully by Buck Hamlin. The gun has been rejointed properly, and locks up very tightly. The wood has been refinished and heel and toe plates added by Dennis Earl Smith and is solid and tight. Barrel dimensions as follows; Right- .737/.055" 9", .040 min wall w/ .015" choke. Left- .737"/.052"9", .035" min wall w/ 020" choke. As you can see, barrels are ready for another 140 years of shooting. I have been collecting Scott guns for 35 years, and this is the best-conditioned Premier Damascus ejector gun I have found. Most are in rough shape, but whoever ordered this gun knew what he wanted and then took care of it. The metal is all bright and clean and has original fading case colouring with no patina as usually found on a gun this age.The barrels are absolutely gorgeous. You will look a long time to find another gun like it. It has been put back in excellent shooting condition by some of the best craftsmen in the business and is ready for another lifetime or two of service. Pre-1898 Antique.
