Description:
Sold...Mike...A rare and desirable sepia tone photograph of Buffalo Bill Cody and Sitting Bull that was taken in Montreal in 1885. In the original photographer card stock frame and named "Caufield & Shook Inc. Louisville". Someone scribbled on the top outer edge and bottom outer edge of the card stock at some point in its life. A very high condition and rare original photograph with no damage and no fading. These would have been copied by the photographers from the original negative and sold at the photographers shop for between 1.00 to 2.00 dollars in 1885. Sitting Bull was employed by William Cody for 4 months in 1885 performing in Cody's Wild West Show. Card stock frame measures 6 inches wide by 8 3/4 inches tall. The actual photograph measures 4 1/4 inches wide by 6 1/8 inches tall. This image was originally attached in a photo album and is now in a circa 1900-1910 period wooden frame with an easel back. A fine Western period photograph where the subject matter couldn't be any better. A fine piece of Americana for the Western collector. These seldom come up for sale. Guaranteed to be an original. USPS priority mail mail is 12.00
