Here we present an antique Winchester Model 1893 Slide Action Shotgun, manufactured in 1894 in New Haven, Connecticut. The Winchester Model 1893 Slide Action Shotgun was designed and patented by the Browning Brothers (John Moses and Matthew) and was the first successful slide-action shotgun. It was introduced in May of 1893 and was manufactured until July of 1897.
Production of the Model 1893 was limited due to the advent of smokeless ammunition in the years immediately following its release. The Winchester Model 1897 Slide Action Shotgun was the new and improved version that would stand up to the higher pressures of the new smokeless cartridges.
The overall condition is very good. Faded blue finish. The action is excellent. This example has retained a smooth and bright bore. There is a small dent in the barrel about 4 1/2'” from the muzzle. The stock is solid and smooth.
