This Lefever DS Grade 20-Gauge SxS Shotgun, or the “Durston Special” unabbreviated, is a high-quality shotgun of the early 20th century. This uncommon shotgun features a black buttplate, smooth dark walnut stock and forend, checkering at the pistol grip and forend, and a color casehardened tang, breech lever and receiver. The Lefever DS has the same internal action as the Syracuse, N.Y.-based manufacturer’s more illustrious options, minus the cocking indicators. The value of these shotguns continues to increase with time, as cited by Bob Elliot’s works on Lefever gun-making, no more than 500 of these 20-gauge DS Grades were ever produced.
