Description:
SPECIAL ORDER 1894 TAKEDOWN, HALF OCTAGON-HALF MAGAZINE, FANCY WALNUT, .30WCF RIFLE, #504XXX, MADE 1911. This rifle comes with a factory letter stating only that the serial number was applied on July 18, 1911- the serial number is too high for the records to have any other info. The barrel shows fine lightly aged blue on the octagon porton with a mixture of aged blue that is thinning/mixing gray on the round portion. The receiver is mostly gray with some aged blue toward the rear right side. and good blue on the loading gate. Has the correct buckhorn rear sight with elevator bar intact and small Winchester blade front sight. All markings are crisp and clear. The walnut shows outstanding grain and color more on the right side of the stock and there is better than standard wood grain in the forend. Both stock and forend have been lightly sanded and refinished. Tight takedown and action. Bore is excellent and only slightly dark. A handsome special order takedown 110 year old Model 1894.
