Description:
avid Kirkwood of Boston hand made several guns in the 1880’s and 1890’s. Reportedly he produced about 400 handmade Shotguns, Drilling and Double Rifles. His guns are superb and were easy rivals of the beautiful English guns. This is a 16 Gauge Side-lock Hammerless. 28 inch barrels are choked Full and have good traces of a Damascus pattern. Circassian walnut of high quality stocks. 13-1/2 inch LOP. Pistol grip with fluer-de-lis style checkering. Wood has been lightly refinished. Looks great. Side plates are nicely engraved with scroll work. Overall metal retains very little finish and is mostly a gunmetal grey. Excellent mechanics. Gun features ejectors, double triggers and a third fastener. Fitted in a nicely preserved “leg of mutton” case.
