Description:
This listing is for a Colt 1911A1 semi automatic pistol chambered in .45 ACP serial number 755916 manufactured in 1941. I hate to let this one go but I know some lucky fella will keep this pony in good hands. The pistol was sent to Springfield Armory on the 27th of December in 1941, only a couple of weeks after Pearl Harbor. It is a rarely seen 1941 "W.B" marked pistol. It must have surely seen some wartime use and wear, and from then till now some harsh storage. There is light pitting and minimal rusting scattered across the slide, frame magazine and checkered mainspring housing, I've treated it over a time or two to ensure that the rusting and pitting is as removed as can be without beginning a serious refinish/ getting it re-Parkerized. However that is the only downside to this beautiful pistol. It is dead accurate and is a dream to shoot. All the proof marks and stampings are still very strong and visible.

Along with the gun is also a WWII M1916 "Craighead" holster with original leg tie in excellent condition. This “Craighead” M1916 Holster is undated, which suggests that it is one of the scarcer mid- to late-war example. Most of the M1916 Holster contracts awarded to the several manufacturers were awarded in 1942 in the very first months of the War. Fewer contracts were “let” in subsoquent years and are less common, but most importantly, John R. Craighead Company, Inc. holsters are very rare. Unique to the Craighead Holsters, “U.S.” on the Flap is enclosed in a “Rounded” rectangle rather than an oval as was the practice of the other manufacturers. Craighead also additionally stamped a san-serif “U.S.” on the rear of the Holster beneath the M1910 Belt Hook and above the circular Craighead Crest. The only 'flaw' is a small scratch on the left edge of the Flap visible in the photographs. This Holster has never been dyed post-war. The "Orange" Linen Stitching is in perfect condition. (NB: The current reproduction Holsters use "White" thread.) The small internal Wooden Shaping Block at Toe of the Holster is still present. The Blackened Brass Eyelets for the Leg Lace Tie are still firmly anchored in the leather. The original Leather Lace Leg Tie is present, coiled, and in exceptional condition. The finish on the Blackened Steel M1910 Belt Hook is excellent, showing only the slightest wear from being threaded onto a Pistol Belt. There is ZERO wear or cracking where the leather folds over the M1910 Belt Hook. The 4 Brass Rivets and the Flap Stud are secure and show only the slightest trace trace of verdigris.

Lastly there is also the M1936 "O.D" Green canvaspistol belt. It is original, and the strong O.D has faded a bit with the years. Along with the pistol belt is an original 1911 magazine pouch, manufactured (and marked) by Boyle with the date 1942.

FEATURES: 1911A1, Parkerized finish, 5" Barrel, "M1911A1 U.S Army" and "United States Property" Markings. "W.B is the stamped inspectors mark and there is the "P" mark near the magazine release. On the right side of the trigger guard there is the "24" marking. Matching slide to frame. On the left side of the trigger guard the correct marking is present. On the top rear of the slide near the sight there is the correct "P" marking. Magazine has L marking on base plate. Non-reinforced correct and original "Coltwood" grips. All patent and proof marks are correct and very visible.
