All original and complete. Serial numbered in the 28xxx range and all matching. Only 11,470 delivered to the U.S. Army during the Civil War and all were issued and used during the war. Very good overall with dark metal patina never cleaned of polished. Attic excellent condition. Stock and forend with the original finish. U.S. Ordnance Inspector’s stamp (E.A.W.) on stock comb ahead of butt plate tang for E.A. Williams Army Sub-inspector at Spencer during the Civil War. The inspector’s cartouche at the wrist can also be seen but is very faint. Stock with two old and solid minor hairline cracks along the tube channel which is very common.
