WW1 WWI IDENTIFIED GORDON HIGHLANDERS OFFICER’S SMITH & WESSON .455 .45LC MARK II HAND EJECTOR REVOLVER CIRCA 1916 STAMPED N. S. WILLIAMSON/ 4 GORDON. All original and matching with Royal Ordnance inspection stamps and Broad Arrow proofs. Retains most of the blue and case colors and has excellent grips. Excellent bore and in perfect working order. Butt of grips stamped “N.S. WILLIAMSON/4 GORDON” for Lieutenant N. S. Williamson (later Captain} of the 4th Gordon Highland Regiment who led the final assault on the infamous crest of Greenland Hill and the Windmill Copse during the Second Battle of the Marne in September 1918. One of a series of sketches of the Highland Division in action during the war done by Frederic Arthur Farrell as part of the official history of the Royal Highland Division in WW1 depicts Lt. N. S. Williamson leading the charge. Famous WW1 Highland Regiment and famous officer as well. Winston Churchill referred to the Gordon Highlanders as the “Finest Regiment in the World”. Converted to .45 long colt.
