Early Winchester Model 1886 Standard Rifle In 45-70
This early Model 1886 rifle in 45-70, with a 26” octagon barrel, was made in 1892. The rifle's serial number is 66999. The front and rear sight are the original standard sights for this model. The lever and hammer are case hardened and retain about 80% of their colors. The bolt retains about 80% of its original bluing. The frame, barrel, and tube have a relatively even gray patina. There are some dings and light scratches in the metal and at least two screws have damage to their heads. The rifle is missing the screw at the muzzle end of the tube. The bore has dark spots, with some pitting. The stocks have some dings, scratches and bangs as one might expect in a firearm that is about 129 years old. The lettering is sharp and legible. The action on this rifle is excellent. This is an antique rifle and it does not have to be sent through an FFL. Call or write to discuss shipping and insurance options.
