Description:
Cast iron fire insurance plaque in shield form. Initials "T.I." and nozzle. Cast iron house marker from T.I. Insurance Co. If your house was insured, this marker was posted on the gate. The independent firemen put out the fire knowing they would be paid by the insurance company. If there was not a marker, they just let the house burn (as they were not sure of payment) and hoped the fire would spread to an "insured" house. Very rare. 8 1/2"H x 9 1/2"Across.
