This Cooper Model 22 Phoenix rifle in 6.5x284mm is really a spectacular target rifle in as new condition. Cooper rifles are well-known all over the world for being excellent in every way. There are not too many companies that will guarantee this level of accuracy. This Cooper Model 22 Phoenix is a single-shot bolt-action rifle with a 26" inch stainless steel barrel and a beautiful sythetic stock. The stock features an enlarged forearm with a flat keel for shooting the rifle in a rested or supported position. The receiver is pre-tapped and comes fitted with bases for optics mounts. The bolt handle is straight for ease and speed of cycling, but has a short throw angle for excellent scope clearance. The easy-to-operate rocker-style safety switch is located on the right side rear of the receiver and does not lock the bolt from being worked in the "safe" position. The factory fully-adjustable single-stage trigger is superb, breaking like a thin glass rod with a very light pull. There is no excessive travel, grit, or sponginess whatsoever. The slim polished bolt uses three locking lugs at the head for a tight and very secure lock-up that results in superb accuracy. The smooth blue bolt handle acts as a fourth "safety" lug. The cock-on-opening action on this Cooper is so smooth it feels like it is on roller bearings, and the bolt turns into battery perfectly with no wiggle or slop. The bore in the 26" inch stainless steel barrel is mirror-bright and pristine with no visible imperfections whatsoever, and the rifling shows sharp lands and grooves throughout the barrel. If you have been looking for a high end target rifle that you can really be proud of owning, this Cooper Model 22 Phoenix would be an excellent choice.
