Description:
This is a rare minty and unfired Star Megastar 10mm Auto pistol complete with the original box and everything it shipped from the factory with. Imported in very low numbers by Interarms for a short time between 1992 and 1994, the powerful high-capacity Star Megastar was offered in both .45 ACP and 10mm Auto with 14 plus 1 capacity. The heavy-duty and well-made semi-automatic Megastar model featured all-steel construction, a factory 2-tone matte and gloss blue finish, a 4.6" inch blued/polished steel barrel, a slide-mounted ambidextrous safety, 3-dot combat-style sights, a lanyard loop at the heel, a reversible magazine release, textured front and rear grip straps, and a 14-shot double-stack factory magazine. Relatively unknown when new due to the low numbers imported and lack of advertising, these well-made and powerful pistols have since proven to be an excellent combat-style pistol in the years since they were introduced. The resurgence of interest in the 10mm Auto cartridge combined with the scarcity of the model have made the high-condition 10mm Auto Megastar examples extremely sought-after and collectible today. This particular example is serial number 2029589, and it remains in unfired, like-new condition. Bought new by the original owner, the magazine release was swapped over to the left-handed configuration and the gun was put into storage until now. We even had to wipe off some of the old factory oil on the slide to get good pictures of the factory blue finish, and the factory instructional manual "Warning" hang-tag is even still attached to the triggerguard! If you didn't know better you would think that this pistol was made last week rather than 27 plus years ago! The factory two-tone matte and gloss blue finish on this Megastar rates 99% plus, with the only deduction coming from a tiny little spot of marring on the front grip strap just under the juncture of the triggerguard. Outside of that tiny little spot there is no finish wear, handling marks, scratches, or damage of any kind to the finish. All of the factory markings are crisp and perfectly clear. The factory barrel is immaculate both inside and out. The bore is mirror-bright and pristine with perfect, sharp rifling throughout. The polished chamber area is bright and clean with no pitting or stains, and the remainder of the blued barrel is like-new with only a ring mark where it makes contact with the slide when locked into battery. The chamber area is stamped with a crisp and clear caliber designation of "Cal 10x25mm". The original grips on this pistol are in excellent, like-new condition as well rating 99%. The checkering is crisp and clean, the Star logos are perfect, and both grips are free from any wear, cracks, chips, or repairs. If not for a tiny little ding on the forward edge of the left grip they would rate 100% (owner stated it was on there when he bought it new, likely a mark acquired from the shipping/import process from Spain to the U.S.). The fit and finish of this pistol is excellent. The slide-to-frame fitment is superb, and the action is both slick and extremely smooth. The barrel locks in and out of battery perfectly, and all of the controls are in 100% perfect working order and feel new. There is no doubt that this Star Megastar should function just as perfectly today as the day it left the factory. As mentioned earlier, this Star comes with everything it left the factory with, and everything is in like-new condition. The blue plastic factory box still has the original end-label intact, serial numbered to this pistol. Inside the box you will find the owner's manual and several assorted pamphlets, the factory cleaning rod, the factory bore mop, the factory Star-branded screwdriver tool for swapping the magazine release to either hand, the extra 14-round magazine, and even the original plastic shipping bag. It would be all but impossible to upgrade from this Megastar in any way, it has to be one of the nicest all-original and complete examples in existence. If you have been looking for a cool and unique big-bore automatic pistol for your collection this vintage 10mm Auto Star Megastar would be an excellent choice. We have no doubt that it will continue to be a superb long-term investment. NOTE: While the pictures provided show the magazine release in the left-handed position we have since swapped it back to the right-handed configuration.
