FINE CONDITION 1886 .45-70 TAKEDOWN EXTRA LIGHTWEIGHT RIFLE, #143XXX, MADE 1907. A really nice example showing about all the barrel and mag blue and having a buckhorn rear sight with elevator bar intact and a Sheard/Marble blade/bead front sight. Exc. markings on the barrel and upper tang. The receiver shows fine blue mixing/flaking with some brown on the left side and upper tang with the same good blue mixing with brown & gray on the right side. Nice blue on the loading gate and bright blue on the bolt. Fine stock and forend show only light handling with tight wood to metal fit and an excellent Winchester embossed hard rubber shotgun butt plate. Attractive reddish/brown walnut. Excellent screws and the left side of the lever shows some good light case color with some traces of color on the right side of the lever. The takedown is tight and the bore is bright, sharp and excellent. The correct 22" barrel is marked "Nickel Steel Especially for Smokeless Powder." Attractive uncleaned appearance and hard to find in .45-70.
