Description:
This rifle is a prime example of an M1 Carbine manufactured during WWII that likely did not see battle field action.  The Saginaw Gear barrels were known to be of very good quality and were used exclusively on S.G. rifles but were not date stamped.  This barrel is in excellent condition based upon the pronounce riflings and lands evidenced by the attached picture.  The exterior of the barrel is as issued and was never converted to a Type III Barrel Band with a bayonet lug.  This rifle has not undergone any armorer repairs or import conversion, just the inspection approval stamps.  The Dark Walnut HIGH WOOD STOCK and Hand Guard have been refinished but are of WWII production with the RSG stamped in the sling well and RSG stamped on the underside of the hand guard and CARTOUCHE STAMPS on the right buttstock still clearly evident.
I have completely disassembled this rifle and inspected every part to assure the integrity and correctness of each and every part either by the manufacturer stamping, measurements, or pictures.  Any parts that were replaced or that I replaced were USGI only and are correct for the manufacturer or approved supplier, serial number, production type designation for the part, or production block.  Saginaw Gear produced the second most M1 Carbine individual parts used in the production of their rifles at 15; only Underwood produced more of their own parts at 35 parts.  Saginaw Gear manufactured a total of 293,592 M1 Carbines between May of 1943 and May 1944.  This rifle; serial number 3442484  was the 192,464 S.G. M1 Carbine procuded.  Saginaw Gear was a division of General Motors, which also produced the Inland, and S'G' M1 Carbines as well..
Rather than bore you with a full list of the parts with stampings and all of the other data involved in verifying this rifle I have data sheets available and over 100 photos of this rifle upon request.  My reference source for all of my identification and verification is the "Comprehensive Guide M1 CARBINE" published by Roger Larson.  With 829 pages, over 4,000 high quality photographs, and historical information this book is a must have if you are truly interested in M1 Carbines.  There are many other very good publications that pertain to the M1 Carbine, but I decided to use only one for my purposes in order to maintain consistency when evaluating each rifle I sell.
     * The sales transaction of this rifle must comply with all state and federal firearms sales and shipping regulations.  FREE SHIPPING & INSURANCE is provided to a currently valid FFL of your choice within the contiguous 48 United States.  Although fully functional, this rifle is being sold as is with no expressed or implied warranties.  No Trades Considered !  Accepted method of payment is USPS Money Orders !
