Description:
I've come across a hand full of 20 bore bar in wood hammer guns in my lifetime and nearly all were made by Purdey. One a recent listing on GunsInternational with sleeved barrels that apparently sold fo $25,000.  After an extensive search I found three guns in the online archives by this maker, A. Roblin of Paris. All, except one (a best quality sidelock), were beautiful bar in woods. This gun is no exception.  An extremely rare and exceptionally well made gun by one of the last great Paris makers. The gun is in lovely original condition. The engraving is beautifully well executed and some of the tightest scroll I've ever seen. The 28 plus inch Leopold Bernard made damascus barrels are in immaculate conditon, inside and out. The wood is also exceptional, very dark and straight grain.  The stock is adorned with the seal of the King of Austria in two tones of gold. Who ever did the gold work was a master jewler.  Interestingly, each of the guns that I found online had a similar crest.  I'm not sure what else I can say to describe just how nice this gun is other than it handles like a dream, weighing in at 5 3/4 pounds.

I also added a photo of the gun with it's new goat skin leather pad.  The pad brings the l.o.p. to 14 3/4 inches.
