Description:
Up for consideration is on the the most rare issued arms from the Civil War. This Sharps and Hankins Navy Rifle is one of less than 700 built in 1861. This rifle would have been received at New York Naval Yard on April 28th in 1862. Many of rifles were issued to US Marines and other sharp shooters aboard ships. This rifle wears serial number 250. The rifle seems to be original except for the sporting style sights that were added later. The wood is nice and tight although it looks to have some early armory repairs in the Butt. The action opens smoothly and locks back up tight. Bore is very good. Bayonet fits nicely and locks into place.
