SOLD This fine transition model 1884/1888 rifle has a super clean shiny, rifled bore 32 1/2" barrel . Action works well and the exterior metal is full armory blue. Most of these that come from this area were issued to volunteer troops from Connecticut and Massachusetts in the Span Am War. The action work well and the American black walnut stock is very good with professional period applied hand oiled finish. . SN 309287, possibly made 1886, an 1873 receiver upgraded to 1884 Buffington rear sight. A large military proof on the legy side behind the lock screw.. When the Span Am war broke oiut guns were assembled from earlier models, or refinished, and issued to state militiases with an 1873 cleaning rod and the front stacking swivel band. Overall would make a good black powder shooter. When buying a gun always have it examined by a competent gunsmith before shooting.
