This Winchester Mod 12, Deluxe Grade has no engraving, 20ga has a 26in barrel, SN shows as 1947 production. Donut Post Vent Rib Barrel, Improved Cylinder. Jeweled Bolt and Follower show like new.
The first year styled dounut post ribs were offered on 20 and 28ga guns being made in 1947 according to Winchester "New Winchester Vent Rib" in 1947 records and advertised not until 1954. This is one of the true early factory Model 12, 20ga donut post rib guns.
This gun has been in the same family for nearly 6 decades and never used,however, the box, papers and hang tags have long been gone.
This may be one of the nicest Model 12 we have ever listed. The gun comes with a Letter of provenance. A Winchester Cody Museum Letter has also been requested and will accompany gun.
The photos listed really don't do this Model 12 justices as the overall condition is beautiful. Reviewing the magazine tube reflects no marks of having been moved aft or forward. The owner has also confirmed that this Model 12 has not been shot since gun was apparently reblued and has sat in private gun safe for over 55+ years.
The high grade wood and extremely nice sharp on point checkering are shown as excellent +.
We have taken measures by gathering details to provide validation from Winchester records. We have spoken with the Cody Museum about this very gun Serial Number specifically. All documents to accompany this Winchester to ensure proper history for the next owner.
