Description:
This is a very nice, lightly-used Ruger New Model Blackhawk Stainless .357 Magnum single-action revolver. This NM Blackhawk was made in 1979 and comes complete with it's original box, owner's manual, warranty card, and shipping paper. The Stainless steel NM Blackhawk was designed to be a low-maintenance gun that could operate in all weather conditions. With the Blackhawk already a well-known and proven model, the Stainless steel version quickly earned a reputation as an equally superb revolver that was both exceptionally reliable and accurate but that required less care and was more durable. This particular example features a 6.5" inch barrel and is serial number 34-81516. As mentioned before, it is lightly used but in perfect mechanical condition. The stainless steel shows only some very minor handling/storage marks and no major wear or bad spots. All of the factory markings are clear and crisp, and all of the screw heads are straight with no marring. The bore in this Ruger is mirror-bright and perfect, free from any damage or imperfections. The rifling still looks brand-new with sharp lands and grooves. The six chambers in the cylinder are equally as clean and free from damage or wear. The original smooth American Walnut grips are good shape overall, and both sides are free from any cracks, chips, repairs, or major dings/damage. The grips show only minor handling marks consistent with the rest of the gun, and some superficial wear to the silver finish on the Ruger Medallions. Both grip panels are perfectly fit to the gun and tight to the frame with no wiggle. The action on this N.M. Blackhawk is exceptionally smooth and precise, and the cylinder lock-up is excellent. This revolver is in perfect time no matter how fast or slow you work the action. You really have to feel the action to truly appreciate all of the work and hand-fitting that went into this gun from the factory. All of the controls on this Ruger are in perfect working order, including the rear sight adjustments. There is zero doubt that this New Model Blackhawk Stainless will function just as well now as the day it left the factory 42 years ago. If you have been looking for one of these Stainless steel Blackhawks for your collection that you can enjoy at the range or farm, this 1979-production example would be an excellent choice. They just don't make them like this anymore no matter how tight the tolerances are today or how advanced the machinery has become!
