Description:
DWM rework composed of surplus WWI military parts. Pistol has matching serial numbers on the smaller components with the side plate renumbered to match as well. Barrel has been replaced and bears the Eagle/N proofs indicating its origins in a Nazi controlled era. Right-side of receiver is marked with Imperial proofs that are over stamped with Frankenschloss Suhl and Eagle/N. Aluminum bottomed magazine Eagle/37 from 1941-1942 and unnumbered. This is a unique Luger rework.
Manufactured by DWM under a contract for the German military, this Model P08 Luger is well-known for its use by German soldiers in WWI, WWII, and other nations in various conflicts around the world. The Luger’s legacy as one of the first reliable, semi-automatic designs made it an instant success and cemented its place in firearm history. This pistol utilizes a toggle-lock action, which incorporates a jointed arm to lock, as opposed to the slide actions of almost every other semi-automatic pistol. This P.08 was likely later reworked for commercial sales in and outside of Germany. The chamber areas has been refinished with a high polish blue, which is also present on the barrel. The right side of receiver is marked with arsenal proofs, which are partially over-stamped by "FRANKENSCHLOSS/ SUHL". There are eagle over "N" stamps present on the right side of the receiver, right side of toggle and breech block, and bottom of barrel. The "a" serial number suffix is present beneath the frame serial number, while some serial numbers could potentially be force matched. Some components are numbered in the military fashion, while the commercial style was typically used for identifying these Lugers.
