Original 1852 U,S, Civil War Austrian Lorenz 1862 Rifle.
Ready to hang as is or to be refurbished, Authentic piece of U.S. Cival War History There is alot of information about this gun on the web. It was used by both the north and the south in good numbers. The Trigger / Hammer group is all functioning. It has the aged patina with light surface rust look but I am sure it would clean up nice if it was restored., I believe this was .54 caliber and some were bored out- I dont have a gauge to check it.. If you wanted to restore it the site below seems to offer most everything needed.

It needs a new screw that holds the hammer on and the old screw extraxted. The old nipple is broken off as pictured- there is a replacement nipple included but I am not sure if it is the same thread- old nipple needs to be exracted. Second ramrod guide is missing on barrel and a new one would need to be sodered on. Not sure if that is the original sight or what is up with it- I have seen models that look like they have a flip up sight, but this does not look like one would go on there?
