If you have been looking for the ultimate 28 Gauge Remington 870 Wingmaster shotgun to add to your collection here it is! Bought new by the original owner in 1979, this Remington 870 Wingmaster was never even put-together much less shot before it was coated in oil and put into storage for the last 42 years. It is in perfect mint condition, 100% just like the day it left Remington's factory. If not for the December of 1979 date code of "XV" on the barrel, it could pass for having been made last week rather than 4 plus decades ago! We had to remove the dried-up reddish factory preservative oil off of it for pictures, but did not dare put it together either for fear of scratching or putting marks on the barrel extension. As you can see from the pictures, the bolt and bolt face is spotless and mirror-bright, the barrel extension that goes into the receiver is flawless, the bottom of the shell lifter is perfect, and even the action bars do not show a single mark on them, an unavoidable occurrence if the action is worked even a couple of times. The beautiful factory gloss-blue finish rates 99.9%, it is just how it was when it passed inspection at Remington. All of the markings on both the gun and barrel are flawless and crisp, and all of the controls like the safety, trigger, and bolt release are perfect. The bore in the 25" inch "Full" choked barrel is mirror-bright and pristine, and the ventilated rib is in perfect condition. The beautiful factory American Walnut pistol-grip stock set is just as perfect as the rest of the gun and has some exceptional contrasting stripe and figure in it. While many of these vintage Wingmasters have attractive stock sets, very few have this much well-defined stripe in them in addition to having a perfectly matched forearm and buttstock. The bright factory gloss wood finish is 100% intact and crystal-clear, the checkering is perfect, and all of the stock hardware is intact and in mint condition. The factory-installed Remington-branded butt plate is perfectly fit to the wood and in like-new condition. As mentioned in the title, this 870 Wingmaster comes complete with it's original box and owner's manual, and the Styrofoam box inserts are still intact. All in all, this has to be one of the most pristine Remington 870 Wingmasters in existence. Finding a vintage 12 or 20 Ga. standard gun in this condition is extremely hard to do, finding a 28 Ga. gun in this condition is 100 times harder. It would be impossible to upgrade from this example in ANY respect.
