Description:
This is a very nice and 100% original Remington Model 700 BDL rifle in 7mm Remington Magnum complete with a period USA-made Redfield 3 to 9 power "Wideview" scope on Weaver bases and rings.  This 700 BDL was built in 1971 and remains in excellent condition overall inside and out, having been very lightly used and well cared-for over the years.  Chambered in the very potent and flat-shooting 7mm Remington Magnum cartridge, it is capable of cleanly taking any big game in North America as well as many big game species from all over the world.  The Remington Model 700 BDL is one of the all-time classic American-made bolt-action rifles, well-known by shooters and hunters alike for being very well made, handsome, reliable, and extremely accurate right from the factory.  This particular 700 BDL features a high-polish gloss blue factory finish on the metal, a polished and jeweled bolt body, a black-finished aluminum alloy triggerguard and hinged floorplate, an internal 3-round box magazine, a 24" inch  factory adjustable iron sights with a hooded front blade and a folding rear leaf, and gloss-finished and press-checkered American Walnut pistol-grip stock with factory-installed sling swivel studs, a black forend cap, a pistol grip cap, and a recoil pad.  The factory gloss blue finish is beautiful and bright, rating 98%+. The only deduction comes from a tiny spot of finish marring un the underside of the barrel near the muzzle, only visible under extremely close inspection.  The black factory finish on the floorplate and triggerguard is also like-new and beautiful, with no visible wear, scratches, or handling marks.  The polished and jeweled bolt is in great shape overall, still bright and clean but it does show some runner marks from the action being worked.  The factory checkered bolt handle knob is in excellent shape, as-is the blued steel rear shroud.  The bore in the 24" inch barrel is mirror-bright and perfect, showing no pitting, erosion, or damage off any kind.  The rifling still has sharp lands and grooves from the chamber to the crown of the muzzle.  The stock on this 700 BDL is in very good to excellent condition.  The stock is completely free from any cracks, chips, or major dings/damage but show some scattered minor handling and storage marks in the wood.  The factory press-checkering is still crisp and clean, and all of the stock hardware such as the pistol grip cap, forend tip, and recoil pad are all intact and in great shape overall.  The factory gloss finish on the stock is still 100% intact and uniform, free from any spider-cracking or chipping.  The action on this 700 BDL is both very slick and smooth throughout the range of motion.  When turned into battery it locks up to the barrel perfectly tight with no grit or slop.  All of the controls on this Remington are in perfect working order, including the 2-position tang-mounted safety and the hinged-floorplate release.  There is zero doubt that this 7mm Magnum Remington will still function just as reliably and accurately as the day it left the factory 50 years ago.  As mentioned earlier, this rifle comes complete with a period Redfield scope already mounted on it in vintage Weaver bases and 1" rings.  This Redfield is a 3 to 9 variable power wideview scope with a very cool tapered post and horizontal crosshair reticle.  It is in excellent condition inside and out, with crystal clear glass and a handsome gloss black finish. All of the controls on this scope are in working order, including the windage and elevation adjustments, the power selecting ring, and the fine eyepiece focus.  Both of the turret caps are still with the scope with clean threads and all of the markings are on the scope are clear and legible.  These American-made vintage Redfields are considered by many to be one of the best scopes made during this period, with the "Wideview" models like this one particularly sought-after due to the "TV screen"-like sight picture they give you.  This scope should provide many more decades of trouble-free service.  All in all, this 1971-production Remington 700 BDL is an excellent example of these fine rifles, and should continue to be a superb long-term investment in addition to being an excellent shooter.
