Description:
Highly desirable and scarce transition era Model 70 in the ever popular 270 caliber. S/N 72*** with matching scribed bolt made in 1947. Excellent condition showing 98% Blue other than heel area of buttplate. Wood is also very nice with some scattered use marks but nothing distracting, no cracks, and all original finish. This rifle retains the Pre War style clover leaf tang with the "clam shell" aka "rabbit's foot" safety combination limited almost exclusively to rifles produced between 1946-48. The rear sight is a factory issued, scalloped base Lyman 48 WJS receiver sight. There has never been a 22g sight installed on this rifle as evidenced by the lack of any elevator track. The Barrel is 24" with an excellent, mirror bore. Reportedly very accurate. All mechanical functions are working perfectly.
