Description:
This appears to be a Confederate era musket, assembled from parts salvaged from the Harpers Ferry Armory, after it was captured by Confederate forces in ear;y 1861...The 40",  .58 caliber rifled barrel is unmarked...The walnut stock appears to have been originally made for a cadet sized musket, with additional wood scabbed on later. The top of the wood at the wrist is stamped  1 and L. There is a faint cartouche under the rear lock bolt head... The Model 1855 lock plate is dated 1860. Harpers Ferry and federal eagle stamps remain clear.  Maynard Tape Primer parts are present...Ramrod and other parts look correct...However, no guarantees here...
