This versitile hunting gun was most likely made by Alvan Pratt, of Concord, Mass, circa 1840...The heavy smooth bored 40" barrel is .69 caliber or 16 gauge...This was a stoutly made gun, suitable for shot and ball loads...Note the iron military style ramrod...Very good overall antique condition, with crudely repaired wood cracks and wood missing around the top tang...Nice to see the original checkering at the wrist and the gold A PRATT makers plate still on the barrel...
