Description:
"A very nice and completely original Ames 1840 “Wristbreaker," in very nice condition with an original buff hanger on one ring. The sword is in extremely nice condition, with all of its original grip leather and wire. The blade is stamped with the three line Ames mark, N.P. Ames over Cabotville over 1848. The other side is stamped US over WD. The pommel is stamped JWR. The edge appears to have been period sharpened, and there are a few nicks along the cutting edge. The scabbard is in the bright. The buff strap is in very good shape, dyed black on one side. Dimensions:43 inches long overall. The blade is 36 inches long. Very good plus condition overall. The knuckle bow has a slight sway to it, but the bars of the hilt seem fine. The marks on the blade are extremely sharp and clear. The blade is clean, with a little very minor staining in the narrow back fuller. The upper half of the scabbard is extremely nice. There are heavier stains on the lower half of the scabbard.
