This offering is for the pictured box of .22 Hornet US Aircrew Survival Ammunition. Maker marked from Remington Arms, 50 round box inside the factory sealed foil packet. 1950's era.
For use with the Aircrew M4/M6 Survival rifles (1950's) that stored under the seat of American military aircraft and were designed to give downed aircrew a survival weapon for foraging wild game for food. Due to the possible use of the M4 rifle being used as a combat weapon by the downed aircrew, the ammunition is loaded with full metal jacket projectiles to comply with the Hague Convention barring use of expanding bullets in warfare.
