Description:
Winchester 1873 3rd Model Saddle Ring Carbine in 44-40 that was nicely redone by restorer and collector Pete Crance a few years ago.  Standard 20" round barrel, full magazie, saddle ring, carbine sights, and original carbine semi-crescent buttplate with trapdoor. Antique Serial Number in the 292,000 range that was made in 1889.  Comes with Factory Letter from the Cody Museum verifying its carbine and caliber configuration along with date of shipment from the Winchester factory.  Pete Crance did a really nice job on this one and being a collector, what I have always liked about his work is his attention to closely replicating polishing, original blue and case colors on the proper components.  The perfectly fire blued loading port spring is a nice touch.  It has a new barrel  with all the proper markings.  Serial number was nicely re-cut after polishing.  He also used new American Black Walnut for the forend and buttstock with a correct style oil finish like the originals.  The result is that it gives the appearance of a 25,000 dollar original from a couple of feet away.  The only thing I can spot which isn't  technically correct is the rear sight ladder which has the later type 0 to 20 graduations instead of the 1880's and 1890's 2 to 9 graduations.  Curiously, it has an "1873" engraved at the top which is correct, just not on a 0 to 20 ladder.  Other than that, he pretty much nailed all the details and I'm sure it was a great deal of time, effort, and money to bring a carbine up to this level of restoration.  Action is very nice and crisp and the bore is mint.  Antique. No FFL required except in NJ.  No sales to NYC, DC, Chicago, HI or Internationally. Buyer must be 18 years old and a law-abiding citizen.  $45.00 shipping in the Lower US 48.
