Description:
First introduced in 1931 the FN Browning Baby .25 ACP pistol was manufactured in several different configurations and slide-marking variations over it's 52 year production-run, with just over 510,000 manufactured before being discontinued. The Browning Baby was designed as a very small and compact semi-automatic self-defense pocket pistol chambered in .25 ACP. It featured a gloss blue or chrome-plated factory finish, a 2" inch barrel, fixed iron sights, a left-side safety lever/slide lock, a rear cocking indicator, a detachable 6-round single-stack magazine, and checkered black plastic or faux Mother of Pearl grips. The FN Browning Baby proved to be a very well-made and reliable little pocket pistol, even if it did lack stopping power with the anemic .25 ACP chambering. This particular example is a gloss blue example, serial number 233653 manufactured in 1961. It is in superb condition inside and out, and appears to have never been carried and never fired more than a few times, if at all. The original gloss blue finish rates 98%, and the factory markings are all crisp and clean. The only deductions come from a few tiny little handling/storage marks that are only visible under extremely close inspection. The barrel which was left "in the white" from the factory is bright and clean with no staining, discoloration, or pitting of any kind. The bore is perfect, free from any imperfections, pitting, or visible erosion. The rifling still looks brand-new from the crown of the muzzle to the chamber. The original checkered black plastic grips are just as pristine as the rest of the gun, free from any visible wear, cracks, chips, or repairs of any kind. Both grip panels are tight to the gun with no wiggle. The factory magazine is in excellent condition with perfect feed lips, strong spring tension, a perfectly fit follower, and an exceptionally clean and bright factory blue finish on the exterior. The action on this Browning Baby is slick, smooth, and tight, with an excellent frame-to-slide fit. All of the controls are in perfect working order, including the visible cocking indicator at the rear of the slide. There is no doubt that this Browning will still function just as well today as when it left the factory 60 years ago.
