The Browning Superposed is one of the finest over/under shotguns in history and one of John Browning’s most brilliant designs.  Produced in plain-jane field grades to the most elaborately engraved and finely stocked shotguns ever seen, production of the Browning Superposed was done in Belgium, running strong from 1931 through 1977 when traditional production stopped.  One of the most sought-after Superposed in the Browning catalogue was the Diana Grade with the appealing game scene engraving and highly figured wood.  When you consider there were over 250,000 Browning Superposed guns made in all grades and gauges, one recognizes how rare the Diana Grade small bore guns were with less than 1300 made in 20 gauge and another 500 or so made in 28 gauge and .410 combined, or a total of about 1800 hunting style Diana Grade small bores.  We are presenting here a very special, factory documented Diana Grade 3-gauge set; 20-gauge, 28 gauge, and .410 bore, all choked SKEET and having 26.5” barrels and field style forearms.  This small gauge Diana 3-gauge set, sn48808 V8 made in 1968, was shipped in April of 1969 (see included factory letter).  This was a time period when salt-cured stock wood plagued Browning causing rust problems with some of their guns.  Our in-house gunsmithing department has tested this gun’s wood and THE WOOD IS SALT FREE AND IS NOT PART OF THE SALT WOOD DEBACLE.  We have certified this in writing and a LETTER OF GUARANTY goes with the gun at time of sale.  This beautiful Diana Grade has seen little use in the past 52 years, with the 20ga. barrel set showing the slightest wear at the muzzle, otherwise 99% factory blue, with the other two sets a solid 99.5% factory blue.  The action retains over 99% of its French Grey finish with no wear except by the safety.  The factory wood is the best you will see on a Diana Grade gun, wonderfully figured both sides, as new checkering, and 100% of a recently applied hand-rubbed oil finish.  The Browning finish had “crackled”(as they are known to do) and did not measure up to the condition of the rest of the gun, so we restored the wood to perfection, and it is gorgeous!  The gun is a VFI CERTIFIED GUN WITH A 90 DAY MECHANICAL, as we stripped the action and forearm irons to the smallest parts, Ultrasonic cleaned and scrubbed all parts, inspected all for function and integrity, lubricated and reassembled, making them all good for another decade or two before needing further attention.  THIS GUN IS IMMACULATE INSIDE AND OUT.  The set is housed in the factory supplied Airways style Browning case that is in very good shape with papers and the original keys.  THERE WERE LESS THAN 100 DIANA GRADE 3 GAUGE SETS EVER PRODUCED, MAKING THIS A GREAT INVESTMENT QUALITY GUN THAT WILL INCREASE IN VALUE AS YOU ENJOY ITS USE.  Thanks for looking, and don’t let this one get away!
