Description:
General Specs: Colt, Year 1861, .31, 24.5oz
Serial Number: 190698

The Colt Model 1849 Pocket Revolver was the most widely produced of any Colt percussion pistol and nearly 340,000 were manufactured from 1850 to 1873. Although most production took place in Colt's Hartford and New York factory and approximately 11,000 were made in London. Sales of this new firearm was bolstered by the fact that America was at war and soldiers desired a trusty, sturdy sidearm that the Model 1849 represented. Both sides - the Union and Confederacy - would go on to utilize the Model 1849 in their inventories though they were not standard issue guns - soldiers acquired these through private ownership through sale or as gifts from friends and loved ones. The Colt Model 1849 was finished with one-piece walnut grips, casehardened frame, hammer and an engraved cylinder featuring a stagecoach scene.
Manufactured in 1861, this antique Colt Model 1849 Pocket Revolver comes with two Colt Patent marked two-cavity ball and brass mold, a lacquered copper eagle powder flask, a combination L-shaped tool, two tins of percussion caps, loose lead balls and a tin of lead balls. The pistol and accessories are beautifully encased in a decorative custom fitted box.
