Description:
Historic Savage 1895 lever action rifle in .303 Savage!  Father of Savage 1899. Octagon barrel, crescent butt plate.  SN#4122.  Butt stock and plate replaced with factory original 3716 (both matching).  Very good looking wood and butt plate with expected wear to receiver and barrel.  No visible rust.  Original brass blade front sight and Marlin rear buckhorn sight. JM stamp on barrel under forend as expected.  Beautiful 26" octagon barrel stamped "SAVAGE REPEATING ARMS Co. UTICA, N.Y. U.S.A. PATENTED FEB. 7, 1893, JULY 25,1893, CAL. .303".  Bore and rifling are absolutely outstanding.  Bolt has window hole for cocking designation, which was the original Savage design before the pin mechanism was invented.  Brass cartridge counter.  Small crack on left upper forend and repair where receiver meets tang.  Pictures reveal condition.  Own this smooth, functional piece of history at a reasonable price.  $45 shipping.
