Description:
This S&W M-1917 is 103 years old and remains a nice example of a high polish blued WW1 U.S. Military revolver.  It is designed for the .45 ACP rimless cartridge held in half moon clips. .45 Auto Rim can be used without the clips.
This revolver is marked with the Serial Number, 80004 on the frame butt.  the bottom of the barrel, and the rear of the cylinder. The S&W factory assembly number, 47427 is matching and marked on the frame, and the crane. The grips are un-marked.
The finish is the original factory blue showing service wear and moderate corrosion only on the frame top strap. The Military acceptance proof, E/56 is visible on frame at the L trigger guard bow. The Ord. Bomb is marked on the L. Frame Top.
The action is in fine working order, smooth and tight. The cylinder chambers are smooth and bright. The Barrel generally has a bright Exc. bore. However….It is bulged just in front of where it mounts to the frame.  It must have been fired while obstructed. This is certainly not a desirable condition, but it may be shot as is, considering it is not a target revolver.
This is a modestly priced U.S. Military revolver that would find a good home in your collection. .45 ACP Cal with a 5 ½” barrel.  Serial Number 80004.   C&R or FFL Required.
