For sale today is a very popular and hard to find Iver Johnson 2-Inch, Top Break Revolver. This firearm is chambered for 32 S&W Short, and will accept Five Rounds of Smokeless Ammo, it has been completely reconditioned.
Before the recondition process began, this firearm exhibited very little pocket, purse, or holster wear, and presented little or no actual shooting evidence. The surface now maintains a new 100% Bright Nickel finish and we have installed new grips to complete the process.
The five shot cylinder of this revolver has very little play clockwise or counterclockwise, (as designed by Iver Johnson). Also, in a “Dry-Fire Drill” (using Snap Caps); the timing proved out to be flawless. These firearms were designed with a strong trigger pull as a safety measure. Each pull of the trigger drops the hammer dead center on the primer of the round in the chamber that is centered on the barrel. All five pulls land exactly the same way, (thus proving out the timing). The action on this revolver is tight and crisp. The bore is shiny with strong visible lands and grooves.
We purchase, recondition, and re-sell firearms for home and personal defense. Our preferences are swayed by our view of the world. This firearm is now in new condition. As such, it will stand out in any collection. However, in our opinion, the best use for a piece of this size, weight, and fire power, would be a backup piece to your concealed carry weapon. Any military or police tactical entry team member will tell you, “There are times when your main weapon goes down or runs dry leaving some situations with no time to reload or run a field adjustment on the fly” The only alternative is to reach for your back up weapon. It would be a sad day if that weapon was your Jack Knife. With an inside the waist band holster, (in the small of the back), you could carry a secondary weapon like this, and forget that it’s there. (Hopefully only until needed.)
What impressed us most, of this firearm, (other than its overall condition), was the condition of the tip up springs. the auto eject spring, and the top break hinge springs. They are in like new condition. When the firing pin is at rest, it does not protrude through the cylinder housing wall. Therefore, if banged or dropped the piece has no chance of accidental discharge involving the firing pin. This revolver can be carried safely while fully loaded.
As safe as we believe this revolver is, (manufactured 1940 to 1949), it is still a more than middle aged piece, and should be checked out by a qualified gunsmith before taking it to the range. We recommend a Gunsmith with knowledge of, or has worked on, Iver Johnson Top Break Revolvers.
We allow a three-day inspection period. Any return shipping will be paid for by the buyer. We ship through our FFL provider, to your FFL provider. Shipping charges are paid by the Buyer, (a flat $35.00) We will try to accommodate the buyers desired method of shipping as we can. We cannot ship until all fees are paid, and a copy of your FFL is in hand. Ammo and Speed Strips are not included in the sale.
