Description:
This lovely Uberti 1866 commemorative was discontinued in 1995 after producing only 300. The gun is marked "Made for Cherry's Greensboro, NC" and "An engravers tribute to L.D. Nimschke". Nimschke was a professional German "Master" engraver who did contract work in New York City. His body of work is massive and includes over 5000 firearms. This gun was done by Giovanelli of Italy in memory of Louis Daniel Nimschke. The gun is in very good overall condition but unfortunately has been carried and used. Wood is solid and shows light use marks. Blue is excellent but silver adornments on barrel have worn off with time. Case coloring is beautiful. Bore is excellent. Very nice piece, not so commonly seen! .44-40 Winchester
