Description:
SOLD  Colonel Jones had a long and impressive military career.  Beginning as a West Point cadet on June 18, 1899 and finishing his career on January 31, 1944 as Director of the Administrative Division of the Fourth Service Command.  And a whole lot in the middle.   I also have a pistol which belonged to Colonel Clifford Jones Jr.  It was presented to him as the last son of the class of 1903 to attend the academy.  Colonel Jones Jr. also had a long and successful military career.   The patriarch of the Jones clan was Homer V. Jones.  He is shown with his son Clifford Sr and favorite dog.  The picture is from 1901.  I have some good information on Homer Jones' life.  It will also be included.  There are more pictures which will be in the package.  This family is the type of family that made America great.  They were principled and very strong leaders in their families, the military, business, and faith.  The 1914 US PROPERTY 1911 originally belonged to Col. Clifford Jones Sr.  I do have the archives letter which shows it being shipped to Benicia Arsenal; Benicia, California on September 10, 1914.  I believe the pistol is 100% correct and original right down to the magazine.  Notice this pistol does come with a complete holster rig.  It is excellent and makes a great addition.  Bore is
very nice.  It is shiny with strong lands and grooves.  It will rate an eight on a one to ten scale.  Grips are excellent with no cracks or chips.  Markings are clear and original.  Action is smooth and tight.  Magazine is the correct type two-tone with a lanyard loop.  The barrel is correct P H marked.  A high percentage of the original blue finish remains.  The front and back straps have faded.  The pictures clearly and fairly show the true condition of this pistol.  The second pistol pictured was presented to Col. Clifford Jones Jr. for being the last son from the graduating class of 1903 to attend the academy.  This ceremony was held in 1953 at the 50th reunion.  One sad note.  Shortly after the presentation Mrs. Jones, wife of Sr. and  mother of Jr. had a massive heart attack and died.  A happy occasion turned into sadness.  The government model is very nice.  A very high percentage of the original blue finish remains.  All markings are clear and original.  Bore is excellent and rates a nine of a one to ten scale.  Grips are excellent and are not broken.  They have not suffered the shrinkage malady that many grips in this era suffer.  Action is smooth and tight.  It works perfectly.  I believe this pistol to be 100% correct.  This pistol also comes with the original numbered box.  It is in nice condition and still retains the original label.  You will like this grouping from the original correct leather down to the pictures and print information.   The pistols are nice and each has history.  They are nice enough and interesting enough to make a great addition to any collection.  I have a lot more pictures and more information on Colonel Jones Sr & Colonel Jones Jr.  Please drop me a note or give me a call if you have any questions.
