serial #497, 50 cal. 21 5/8” barrel with a very good plus bore showing fine oxidation and frosting throughout still with sharp rifling the entire length. The barrel of this carbine retains about 30% original blue toning to brown (appearing much stronger under ambient light) with some sparse impact marks and minor muzzle and edge wear. The barrel catch has toned to brown with minor wear along the edges. The action has muted to a smoky gray-brown patina with light staining a couple light impact marks, markings remain clear. The smooth walnut buttstock and forend remain near excellent with a handful of light dents and handling marks with two faint but visible left side cartouches. All serialized parts are numbered alike, the screwheads show light slot wear, 2 may be replacements. The front sight is a high-post brass replacement.
