Description: Serial #23, .22 LR, 8 inch barrel with a fine, bright bore that has some mild freckling within the grooves at the muzzle. This is one of a very few high precision target pistols made by Marion Karol Jurek, the Polish-born engineer responsible for the Webley-Jurek automatic pistol. The pistol has a manually operated slide with locking lever on the right side, and a conventional ring hammer. The metal retains 92-95% of the original blue finish with some fading at the muzzle, as well as minor fading and silvering along the high edges and projections. The frame has extensive maker markings on the left side at the breech: "MADE BY / DR. M.K. JUREK / 1011 ST. MARY’S ROW / BIRMINGHAM 4 / ENGLAND"; and the gun is outfitted with an oversized trigger guard with adjustable trigger. The walnut match grips and forend are in very good shape with numerous small handling marks and scattered surface blemishes. The pistol was acquired from the original owner who commissioned the gun in 1961. The grips have an integral thumb-rest, and an adjustable hand-rest on the right side. Mr. Jurek was basically a one-man design bureau for Webley & Scott’s 9mm pistol program, but the rejection of his pistol design by the British government, saw him leave Webley and begin limited production of this single shot target pistol on a bespoke basis. Very few of these pistols ever made it to the United States, and this example is in fine condition.
