Description:
"British No 4 Mark I Sniper .303 caliber rifle. 25" Barrel with a bright very good plus bore showing some very light oxidation in the grooves and strong rifling throughout. The metal surfaces of this 1944 dated rifle retain about 95% dull arsenal blue and black enamel finish showing some minor high edge wear and scattered handling marks. The scope base screw heads show some moderate slot wear and all markings remain intact and legible with the stock bearing proper “TR" stamp along with the “M47C" maker code, date and serial number. There is no additional “T" stamps on the left side of the receiver and the scope mount bases are stamped with broad arrows. The hardwood stock remains in very good plus condition showing some small moderate dings scattered along the butt stock and some more minor handling marks throughout. The fore-stock is stamped-numbered to the gun. The butt stock is not stamped with a scope number along the wrist but is marked with the appropriate “551" Holland & Holland code along with crisp inspector and proof marks throughout. The scope mount and its rings are un-numbered and the scope appears to be a Mark 2/1 with its updated drums and complete lack of markings. The scope retains 95% original blue and has very nice optics and there is no rear sight present. The bolt is matching the receiver, the arm is marked with small “England" import stamp and British export proofs. A set of unmarked leather lens covers is also included.
