This is a pristine and beautiful Browning Auto-5 Light Twelve 12 gauge shotgun with a 28" inch ventilated rib barrel WITH the Invector screw-in choke tube system. This gun was bought brand-new by the original owner in 1987 and was put up in his safe, never once fired or carried afield. The recoil-operated Browning Auto-5 Light Twelve is one of the all-time classic semi-automatic shotgun models, admired by shooters and collectors alike for it's beauty, reliability, ergonomics, and high level of craftsmanship. This particular example is Auto-5 Light Twelve serial number 23709PR211, manufactured in Japan in 1987. The Light Twelve model was essentially a lightened version of the standard 12 gauge Auto-5. This handsome shotgun features a high-polish gloss-blue factory finish, a scroll and floral engraved receiver, a bright polished bolt, a gold-finished trigger, a 28" inch ventilated rib barrel with a 2.75" inch chamber, a silver bead front sight, Browning's "Invector" choke tube system, a left-side receiver-mounted magazine cut-off switch, and a gloss-finished and checkered European Walnut pistol-grip stock set. As mentioned before, this Light Twelve is a pristine and unfired example. It could pass for having been made last week rather than 34 plus years ago! The gloss blue factory finish is bright, clean, and beautiful, rating 99%. The only deduction we can find in the factory finish is a few tiny little specks on the barrel that are only visible under extremely-close examination under the right light. The gold finish on the trigger and in the Browning buck head logo is perfect with no visible wear or defects, and the polished bright bolt is mirror-bright and spotless with no stains or imperfections. The bolt face is pristine and spotless as well. All of the factory engraving and markings are crisp and clean, and all of the screw heads/slots in the gun look unturned and perfect. The bore in the 28" inch vent rib barrel is mirror-bright and pristine, free from any pitting, dents, bulges, or damage of any kind. The threaded section of the barrel for the Invector choke tubes are straight and clean. The ventilated rib on top of the barrel is in perfect shape with no dents or repairs, and the joint between the rib and barrel is 100% intact and solid. The factory stock set on this Light Twelve is really exceptional, much prettier than many we have had over the years. The buttstock in particular has lots of beautiful figure, stripes, and contrasting color in it. The forearm and buttstock are a perfect match to each other in every way from color to condition. Both pieces of wood are free from any cracks, chips, repairs, or major dings/dents. In fact, we can only find a total of TWO tiny little handling marks in the wood despite examining this stock as closely as possible. These two little marks are so minor and small they might have been on the gun from the factory. The factory gloss finish on this stock set is crystal clear and 100% intact, and the checkered panels on the wrist and forearm are crisp, clean, and completely free from any soiling/oil staining down in the grooves. The action on this shotgun is slick and smooth, and the bolt slams home into battery when released. All of the controls on this Browning are in like-new, 100% perfect working order. As you would imagine, the internals are just as pristine and free from wear as the exterior. The action still has the original factory shipping grease in it, albeit a little dried up. The inside of the forearm still has the factory-applied label in it in perfect condition showing the configuration of the rings for high or low-brass shells. Even the bottom of the loading lever is pristine, typically the first place to show a wear stripe down the center when the gun is loaded even one or two times from contact with the brass rim of the shotshells. This Light Twelve comes with one "Full" Invector choke tube, but additional chokes are easy to come by and give this gun exceptional versatility over a fixed choke model. This Auto-5 has not even begun to be "broken in" in yet, and it still has 99.99% of it's service life remaining in it. There is no doubt that this Light Twelve will still function just as well today as the day it left the factory! If you have been looking for a pristine vintage Browning Auto-5 Light Twelve with the factory Invector choke tube system for your collection here is your chance to get one of the best examples we have had in years.
