Description:
This is a truly spectacular and unique vintage reproduction of a Colt 1861 Navy .36 caliber cap & ball revolver by Replica Arms of Italy with Grade "C" engraving and gold inlay, the highest level of factory customization offered by Replica Arms.  This beautiful '61 Navy was made in 1965 and remains in truly pristine condition, never fired nor carried.  This is a rare gun not just because it is unfired and minty but for a number of reasons, with the biggest factory being the original cost to order this gun this way.  In 1965 the standard 1861 Navy replica would have cost about $60 dollars by itself and to add this Grade "C" engraving would have been at least another $130 dollars, not including the gold inlays which would have run approximately $25 to $50 dollars more.  With all of the options that this gun has, you could have bought almost 4 standard guns!  Needless to say, not too many people ordered guns this deluxe.  In this case the saying "you get what you pay for" rings very true.  This cap and ball black powder revolver displays the highest level of fit and finish, as well as master level engraving.  If not for the factory markings and Italian proofs this beauty would be extremely hard to identify as a replica.  While there are certainly some good replicas made today, they do not hold a candle to this one in our opinion.  Every part of this revolver was hand-fit and finished when it was assembled, likely all by the same person from start to finish.  All of the small parts are perfectly fit to the gun, all of the seams and joints are as close to perfect as possible, and the action is silky-smooth and in perfect time.  The factory finishes are spectacular.  The gloss blue finish on the barrel, cylinder, triggerguard, and grip frame is bright, clean, and perfectly uniform.  The silver plating on the loading lever, frame, and hammer is perfect, showing a little patina from it's age but 100% intact.  The engraver was a true expert as well, as the spacing, depth, smoothness, and extreme detail in the floral and scroll pattern factory engraving is truly superb.  Every screw head on the gun is even engraved, including the screws that are inset so deep that you can barely see them.  The gold inlays (yet another special order feature) are as perfect as you can get, with absolutely invisible seams, perfect borders, and uniform thickness.  Replica Arms managed to find some deluxe Walnut for the grips that looks like it belongs.  The smooth 1-piece grip has a beautiful gloss clear finish over the European Walnut that protects and highlights the handsome figure and contrasting colors in the wood.  The grip was fit to the gun very well, and if not for a little bit of shrinkage in the wood over the last 56 years it would be perfect.  As mentioned before, this factory engraved Replica Arms '61 Navy is in like-new, near-perfect condition both inside and out.  The bore in the 7.5" inch barrel is mirror-bright and pristine, as are all 6 chambers of the cylinder.  All of the nipples are in perfect condition, and both the face and the action star of the cylinder are perfect.  The hammer still has both the safety notch and full-cock positions intact, and the loading lever works perfectly.  There is ZERO doubt that this Replica Arms revolver will still function just as well today as the day it left the factory in Italy in 1965.  If you have been looking for a true "collector grade" Colt replica that would also be an exceptional display piece, this factory-engraved Colt 1861 Navy Model by Replica Arms would be a superb choice.  As this is a BLACK POWDER firearm, it can be shipped directly to the buyer with no FFL needed.
